I seriously love bodyboard coaching! I get such great satisfaction from the massive smiles on the kids faces and from working with each person's goals and being a part of their progression and development.

I took up bodyboarding with my two brothers when I was 15. Immediately I was hooked! This was a sport where I could be immersed in nature, relax, get fit, get barreled, meet wonderful people, compete, travel. It was everything I was looking for and I just loved it!!

I ended up chasing swells around Australia and the world and competing for over 15 years on the World Tour.

I learnt a lot about myself in the process and the physical and mental preparations needed to succeed in bodyboarding.

Career Highlights:

  • Winner of 2014 Pipeline Pro Hawaii -World Tour event

  • Winner of 2011 Encanto Pro Puerto Rico -World Tour event

  • Selected to represent Australia in the ISA World Surfing Games 2007. Won a bronze medal, helping Australia win Gold overall!

  • Top 8 finish on the World Tour rankings every year (Best finish was 3rd in 2007)

  • Seven Australasian Pro Tour Championships

  • And numerous Australian Junior and Open Women's bodyboarding titles.

Coaching history:

I have a lot of experience in bodyboard coaching, which began around fifteen years ago when I participated in a Level One Bodyboard Coaching Course and assisted Steve "Bullet" MacKenzie in his clinics on The Central Coast. Since then I have also coached at  international clinics in Japan, Portugal, Tahiti, Hawaii and Spain.

I moved to Cronulla in 2014, and worked with the wonderful team at Cronulla Surfing Academy as an assistant surf coach.

Of course, my true love is bodyboarding, and I'm just so amped to have this opportunity to pass on my years of knowledge and experience in the surf.

My passion is all about making the lessons fun and really focusing on good technique and style development.

Good style for functionality is key. I also believe mental development is equally paramount as physical when it comes to developing into a good bodyboarder.

I have also studied a lot on nutrition and fitness and getting the best out of my body for the sport. I'm more than happy to share my knowledge on this.

Some words from Lilly's clients:

"I always come away from my lessons feeling that I've learned lots and as a result I'm more confident in the water."

- Lisa, Sutherland

Lilly can immediately hone in on what a student can do from the first 5 minutes she is with the student, for immediate progress. I found her to be a patient, and practical teacher, and very encouraging.

- Matt, Cronulla

Through the years, Lilly has motivated me to overcome my fear of the ocean, she instructed me through my first waves with confidence and safety. I must admit that was the best experience of my life.
